Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Beardsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Panda MacLeod!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacLeod circles away from the clinch attempt.
Beardsley jabs MacLeod right on the nose. MacLeod blinks but takes it well.

It looks like Panda MacLeod has been cut.
MacLeod misses with a shot to the body
and Beardsley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Panda MacLeod seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beardsley looks to score with a jab to the body but MacLeod is just out of range.
MacLeod wants to counter with a clinch but Beardsley pushes him away.
Beardsley uses good head movement to avoid the hook from MacLeod.
Beardsley fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Beardsley takes a swing at MacLeod's ribcage but misses.
Beardsley misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beardsley throws a nice head kick!
MacLeod throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Beardsley sees it coming and avoids it easily.

MacLeod throws a left and a right that both miss
and Beardsley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Beardsley slips under a jab from MacLeod.
MacLeod looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

MacLeod instigates a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Beardsley scores with a nice short uppercut.
Beardsley blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Beardsley tries to work over MacLeod's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A nice left hand lands by Beardsley.
Beardsley scores with an uppercut up the middle.
MacLeod pushes Beardsley back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Beardsley lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of MacLeod backwards.
MacLeod misses with the head strike.

Beardsley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Beardsley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Beardsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. MacLeod gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
MacLeod advances position into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Beardsley is trying to control MacLeod's posture but MacLeod avoids it.
Beardsley's coaches at Copes have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

MacLeod is trying to get an arm triangle but Beardsley is defending well.
Beardsley gets back to half guard.
Beardsley trying to hold on to MacLeod's head to control him but MacLeod postures up.

MacLeod is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Beardsley is looking to control MacLeod's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Beardsley avoid being mounted?

MacLeod seems to be looking for submissions.
Beardsley is not content to let MacLeod control the position.

MacLeod is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Beardsley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time MacLeod.
Beardsley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of MacLeod's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take MacLeod's back!

MacLeod is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Beardsley gets his way!
MacLeod trying to control the action but Beardsley just sinks the hooks in.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Beardsley's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Beardsley is not going to allow MacLeod to sit and survive in this position.
MacLeod looking very determined here, making life difficult for Beardsley.

Beardsley has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for MacLeod! Can he survive? No! He's out! Beardsley gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

In his post fight interview, Peter Beardsley started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
