Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Julian Diaz (ranked 2887 p4p, 3488 weight class) and Toshika Koga (ranked 299 p4p, 346 weight class). The key to victory for Julian Diaz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Julian Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Toshika Koga! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koga misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Diaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Koga. Koga gets slowly back to his feet. Diaz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Nice uppercut there from Diaz. Koga looks for a takedown but Diaz sprawls well. Julian Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Toshika Koga. Koga fails with a takedown attempt. That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Diaz wants it to stay on the feet. Diaz tried to counter with a leg kick but Koga avoided it. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Koga, before circling back to the center of the mat. Koga drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Koga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diaz's waist but Diaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Koga off to one side. Koga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Diaz defends well and Koga ends up having to push Diaz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Diaz gets caught napping as Koga dives in and scores a takedown. Diaz manages to retain guard. Koga looks winded! Koga trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Diaz wants to stand up but Koga is controlling him. Diaz trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Koga is pushing down on Diaz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diaz is fighting to maintain full guard but Koga has managed to sneak the leg through. Koga seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Koga trying to mount his opponent but Diaz defends it. Koga keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Diaz pushes Koga off looking to stand but Koga dives back in and keeps control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Koga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Diaz defends it nicely. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nice uppercut there from Diaz. Diaz is looking to slow Koga down with leg kicks. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Koga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Julian Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Toshika Koga. Diaz cracks Koga with an open hand slap. Koga dives in and grabs Diaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes down on Koga's head and hops out. Jab by Diaz. Diaz connects with a right hand. Koga shakes it off. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Koga on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Diaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Koga. Horrible takedown attempt by Koga or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz, which made it look bad. Diaz lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz connects with a right hand. Koga shakes it off. Nice takedown defense from Diaz. No joy for Koga on that attempt. Koga is breathing heavily. Koga takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Diaz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Koga dives in and grabs Diaz's left leg, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes down on Koga's head and hops out. Diaz was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Diaz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Diaz lands a jab to the head.

Diaz getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Koga shoots in for a takedown but Diaz shows good takedown defense. Koga fails with a takedown attempt. Diaz lunges at Koga with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Koga's hand. Koga has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Diaz lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Diaz. Diaz moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Koga tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Diaz swivels and escapes. A slapping leg kick lands for Diaz.

Koga dives in for a single leg takedown but Diaz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. It looked like Diaz wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Nice shot by Diaz. Diaz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Koga. That did some damage! Diaz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Koga. Diaz scores with a three punch combo!
Koga shoots for a takedown but Diaz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Diaz lands with a cross. Diaz slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Diaz throws a quick inside leg kick. Diaz lands with a good body shot. Koga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily. A little feinted left hand from Diaz on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Diaz tests Koga's chin there with a solid looking shot. Diaz throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Koga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diaz's waist but Diaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Koga off to one side. Koga shoots in looking for a takedown. Diaz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Diaz fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Koga looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Diaz with a nice cross. Diaz scores with a crisp jab that stopped Koga in his tracks. Koga takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Koga fails with the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Diaz throws a nice outside leg kick. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Diaz, as that shot connected.
Diaz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Koga shoots in for a double leg but Diaz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Diaz is really dominating this fight. Koga is rocked! Diaz pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Koga back to the cage. Diaz follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Koga is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him? Diaz fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Koga to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Koga looks to clinch but Diaz throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Koga taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
