PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trayvon Lewis (ranked 618 p4p, 1417 weight class) and Butch Cassidy (ranked 85 p4p, 187 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trayvon Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Butch Cassidy!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis misses the jab.
Lewis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Lewis swings widly with a right hand
and Cassidy counters with a left and a right that stings Lewis.
Lewis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Cassidy as Lewis shoots in.
A little jabbing left from Cassidy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Trayvon Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lewis scores with a hook.
Lewis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lewis connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Lewis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lewis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lewis.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Cassidy! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trayvon Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cassidy moves in looking to clinch but Lewis pushes him off.
Lewis misses with a jab to the body
and Cassidy counters with a slapping leg kick.
Lewis shoots in but Cassidy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cassidy throws a counter combo.
Lewis slips under a jab from Cassidy.
Lewis drops down looking for a counter takedown but Cassidy sprawls and moves away.
Lewis throws a body punch but Cassidy moves out of range.
Cassidy flicks out a counter leg kick but Lewis steps away.
Butch Cassidy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lewis gets the takedown into side control.
Cassidy is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lewis is controlling him well.
Cassidy felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Lewis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cassidy, who protects the arm well.
Lewis prevents Cassidy from escaping the position.

Lewis is trying to get an arm triangle but Cassidy is defending well.

Cassidy wants to get back to his feet.
Cassidy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lewis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cassidy tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cassidy is looking to escape but he's done so without protecting himself and Lewis manages to counter with a nice rear naked choke! Cassidy is in trouble and he's forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Trayvon Lewis!
A less than humble Trayvon Lewis misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
