Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Maverick (ranked 1457 p4p, 1713 weight class) and Willy McCoy (ranked 193 p4p, 226 weight class). McCoy has chosen You Don't Mess Around With Jim as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Maverick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Willy McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maverick defends well and McCoy ends up having to push Maverick into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Maverick tried to counter with a leg kick but McCoy avoided it.
Maverick missing with a left hand there. McCoy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McCoy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Maverick pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maverick lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Maverick ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Maverick misses with a leg kick

and McCoy counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Maverick is trying to keep McCoy in close.
McCoy controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maverick on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Maverick tries to get out of the position.
McCoy is in close to Maverick's body, working some short punches and elbows.

McCoy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maverick swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCoy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McCoy keeps trying to improve his position.
McCoy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Maverick is adopting a defensive guard.
McCoy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Maverick wants to sweep here but McCoy controlling him for the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maverick is looking to chop away at McCoy's legs.
Maverick looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McCoy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maverick sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McCoy ducks under a wild hook from Maverick.
McCoy lands a jab to Maverick's midsection.
Maverick takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Maverick throws a leg kick that is checked

so McCoy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
McCoy wants to pass the guard but Maverick is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maverick pulls McCoy in close to prevent any damage.

McCoy drops back looking for a leg! Maverick is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maverick manages to kick McCoy off! McCoy jumps back into Maverick's guard.

McCoy lands a couple of digs.
McCoy content to stall in guard here.
Maverick knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCoy on the ground.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McCoy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maverick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Maverick can't keep his opponent in guard - McCoy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
McCoy controlling the action here.
Maverick is trying to get back to full guard.
McCoy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McCoy controlling his opponent.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
McCoy prevents Maverick from getting the reversal.
McCoy dominating with strikes here.
Maverick is looking to improve his position but McCoy isn't that keen on the idea.

McCoy has hold of Maverick's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maverick manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
McCoy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McCoy looking to control but Maverick is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McCoy lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Maverick wants to hold on but McCoy pushes him away.
McCoy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

McCoy working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Maverick is working to get back to half guard.

McCoy landing strikes from the mount and Maverick is in trouble!
Maverick is trying to escape the mount.
Maverick tries to lock up and control but McCoy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Maverick reaches up to try and control the position but McCoy seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Maverick rolls and tries to escape and now McCoy has his back!

McCoy keeps control of the position as Maverick tries to break free.

McCoy working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Maverick is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and McCoy has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Maverick taps out!
