PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Huena Ajuricaba (ranked 1977 p4p, 1686 weight class) and Joey Chandler (ranked 207 p4p, 181 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chandler throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ajuricaba appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Chandler's corner calls for a 1-2. Chandler obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chandler working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

It seemed like Chandler was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Chandler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ajuricaba has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Chandler finds it's way round the side to connect with Ajuricaba's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chandler bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

That has opened up Joey Chandler's cut even more.
Chandler dives in for a single leg takedown but Ajuricaba sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Huena Ajuricaba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Chandler.

and Ajuricaba makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Ajuricaba throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chandler gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Ajuricaba gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Chandler is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
