Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stan Man (ranked 218 p4p, 410 weight class) and Colby Taylor (ranked 13 p4p, 39 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

With a record of 20 - 14 - 2, fighting out of London, Stan Man!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Colby Taylor!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Taylor.
Taylor looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Taylor throws a lazy right hand but Man sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Man tries to counter with a takedown but Taylor is quick to defend against it.
Man staying out of range there.
Man changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Man misses with a takedown
letting Taylor counter with a right hand.
Man fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice defenses there by Man.
Taylor misses with a hook

so Man counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Taylor working for a triangle but Man defends it easily.

Taylor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Man controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Man gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Taylor throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Man escapes and throws Taylor's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Man creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Taylor sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Man wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.

Man thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Man is trying to ground and pound but Taylor uses the momentary lack of control by Man to regain half guard.

Man is working for a submission of some sort.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Man is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Taylor has his foot on Man's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Man works his way back into a safe position though.

Taylor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Man doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Man manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Man tries to free his leg and advance position but Taylor is retaining full guard.
Man chips away with some ground and pound.
Taylor controls Man momentarily but Man frees himself.

Man got a little sloppy there for a moment and Taylor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Man has managed to get both his arms back between Taylor's legs - danger averted.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Man's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Man pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Taylor is keeping the position for now.
Man trying to stand up but can't free himself from Taylor's guard.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Man gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Taylor working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Man has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor is looking to improve his position.

Taylor is pressing down on Man's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Taylor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Man throws a strike but Taylor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stan Man will probably get the nod.

Man takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Stan Man overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Taylor is trying to control. Man wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Taylor slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Man dives in for a single leg takedown but Taylor sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Man ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Man no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Man isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Taylor stacks Man on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Taylor!

Taylor fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Man looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Man tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Taylor defends well and Man ends up having to push Taylor into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.
