PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Bundy (ranked 598 p4p, 741 weight class) and Tiff Sanford (ranked 74 p4p, 89 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sanford's choice of entrance music: Body Count - Body Count's in the House. Ted Bundy has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Bundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tiff Sanford!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanford defending well as Bundy loads up on a big left hand.
Sanford is looking for the big counter here.
Bundy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bundy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Sanford. No joy for Bundy on that attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sanford! But no joy.
Bundy throws a shot from downtown. Sanford moves away and avoids it.

Bundy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sanford defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Bundy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bundy looks for a takedown but Sanford sprawls well.
Sanford tries a quick counter leg kick but Bundy is wise to it.
Bundy dives in and grabs Sanford's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sanford pushes down on Bundy's head and hops out.
Sanford counters with a body kick.

Bundy shoots in and bounces Sanford off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sanford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bundy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bundy controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sanford is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sanford controls Bundy momentarily but Bundy frees himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sanford can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bundy wants to pass the guard but Sanford is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bundy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Bundy shoots in but Sanford avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bundy misses with a body shot.
Sanford doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Bundy tries for a takedown but Sanford circles away easily
and Sanford counters with a low kick, right behind Bundy 's knee.
Bundy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanford was well out of range. Poor timing from Bundy.
Sanford counters with a body kick.
Sanford avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Bundy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sanford sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bundy somewhat.
Sanford has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bundy is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Bundy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sanford sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Sanford only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Sanford sends Bundy crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Sanford is motioning to the referee to let Bundy up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

It looks like Ted Bundy has been cut.
Bundy goes for a double leg but Sanford avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sanford continues to drive forward.
Bundy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanford tries to throw a body punch but Bundy avoids it by throwing Sanford back against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bundy is breathing heavily.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Sanford.
Nice body punch from Sanford - that landed with a thud.
Sanford cracks Bundy with a nice body shot.
Sanford goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Sanford lands a shot to the body.
Sanford lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bundy backwards.
Sanford is working Bundy over against the cage.
Bundy's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Bundy tries for a takedown but Sanford manages to get underhooks.
Sanford pushes Bundy back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Sanford.
A right handed body shot lands from Sanford.
Sanford lands on the inside with an uppercut.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tiff Sanford dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ted Bundy's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Sanford lands a brutal uppercut that launches Bundy off his feet! Bundy tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Tiff Sanford!
Our winner, Tiff Sanford, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
