PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johan Joestar (ranked 1473 p4p, 1167 weight class) and Lemuel Denver (ranked 185 p4p, 137 weight class). Joestar comes to the cage accompanied by Coda - Bloody Stream. Denver has chosen Марш нової армії as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lemuel Denver!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joestar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Denver.
Joestar lands with a kick to the ribs.
Joestar is looking to chop away at Denver's legs.
Joestar is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Denver.
A head kick misses from Joestar.
Denver appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Joestar on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Denver throws a shot from downtown. Joestar moves away and avoids it.

Denver is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Joestar to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Joestar shrugs it off.
Denver has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Denver bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Joestar's head backwards.
Denver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Joestar moves away.
Joestar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Denver finds it's way round the side to connect with Joestar's head.
Lemuel Denver seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Joestar has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Denver is on him like a limpet, forcing Joestar back against the cage.

I was talking to Joestar's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
