PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noah Anderson (ranked 380 p4p, 877 weight class) and Ted Bundy (ranked 49 p4p, 105 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Bassically by Tei Shi. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Noah Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Bundy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Anderson is looking to clinch.
Bundy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
A low kick from Anderson is predictable there

so Bundy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bundy preventing the sweep.
Bundy prevents Anderson from getting back to his feet.
Bundy postures up in Anderson's guard and throws a big left but Anderson blocks it.
Bundy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Anderson is keeping the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bundy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bundy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bundy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Anderson dives on top into guard.

Bundy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bundy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bundy pulls Anderson in close to his closed guard and prevents Anderson from doing any damage or advancing position.

Anderson wants to control from the top but Bundy keeps moving.
Anderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bundy has control of Anderson's left arm, preventing Anderson from doing any damage.
Anderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bundy on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bundy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bundy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Bundy's legs - danger averted.

Bundy wants to sweep but no luck.
Bundy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Bundy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bundy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Anderson throws a quick inside leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Anderson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bundy with the counter takedown but Anderson avoids it easily.
Anderson is looking to clinch but Bundy is avoiding it.

and Bundy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Anderson throws an off balance right hand
and Anderson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Bundy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Anderson pushes Bundy off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bundy moves out of range as Anderson strikes.
Bundy changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Anderson misses the target.
Bundy feints the counter takedown.
Anderson misses with a leg kick.

and Bundy counters with a takedown into side control.

Bundy goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Anderson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bundy's guard! Nice work there by Anderson!

Bundy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bundy wants to sweep here but Anderson controlling him for the moment.

Bundy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ted Bundy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Anderson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Bundy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Anderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Anderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
