Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Owen Savage (ranked 1857 p4p, 1453 weight class) and Tu Barrels (ranked 217 p4p, 171 weight class). Savage comes to the cage accompanied by Purge announcement. Barrels comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lock stock and kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Owen Savage! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 24 - 0, fighting out of London, Tu Barrels! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savage shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Savage fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Barrels. Barrels throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Barrels has a takedown stuffed. Savage fires out a quick counter leg kick but Barrels just manages to avoid it. Barrels shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Savage manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Barrels showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Savage definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Savage utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barrels throws a big elbow that misses. Barrels throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barrels pushing down on Savage's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Barrels not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Savage on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Savage tries to get out of the position. Barrels lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Barrels not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Barrels has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Savage is defending against the submission attempts here by Barrels.
Barrels looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Barrels working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Savage tries to roll over but Barrels keeps him under control. Barrels lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Barrels wants to pass to mount but Savage is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrels is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Barrels trying to control but he's not successful this time. Barrels goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Savage turns into him and now he's in Barrels's guard.
Barrels has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Savage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Barrels looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrels wants to sweep here but Savage controlling him for the moment. Barrels trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Barrels wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Savage is now in half guard. Barrels moves into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Savage trying to control the position from guard on top but Barrels is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Savage has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Barrels looking to control.
Barrels is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barrels is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Barrels has control of Savage's left arm, preventing Savage from doing any damage. Barrels working a defensive guard but Savage passes into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tu Barrels dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Savage bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Tu Barrels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No joy there for Savage, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Owen Savage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Barrels looking to score a takedown here. Savage is defending well but Barrels drives through and ends up in Savage's guard. Savage keeping full guard, as Barrels tries to pass. Barrels throws a big right hand that misses. Tu Barrels has got the better of the ground game so far. Barrels throws a big elbow that misses. Barrels slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barrels throwing strikes but missing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barrels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Savage swivels though and keeps the full guard. Savage keeping moving, preventing Barrels from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Savage slips a jab from Barrels. Barrels tries for a takedown but Savage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Barrels throws a body kick that misses. Savage went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Barrels misses the shot to the body. Barrels misses with a takedown attempt and Savage counters with a nice body kick. Savage throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Savage walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Barrels has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrels looks to land a right hand but Savage moved out of range. Barrels fails with a takedown attempt. Owen Savage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tu Barrels. Barrels connects with a nice looking jab.
Savage avoids the head kick by Barrels.
Savage went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Savage takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Barrels throws a body punch but Savage moves out of range. Savage throws a big counter combination but Barrels scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Barrels tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Savage was well out of range. Poor timing from Barrels. Savage throws a body punch but Barrels moves out of range. And Barrels tries to counter it with a takedown but Savage pushes his down on his head and steps out. Barrels scores with a nice strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrels throws a body kick that misses. Barrels drives through with a takedown into guard. Savage keeping moving, preventing Barrels from controlling successfully. Savage is controlling Barrels's posture. Barrels trying to control but Savage is working from the bottom. Savage managing to control the position. Barrels trying to control the position from guard on top but Savage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barrels looking to pass the guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Savage displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barrels. Savage throws a wild combination but nothing lands. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barrels throws an overhand right that lands on Savage's shoulder, as Savage tries to avoid the shot. As Barrels looks to move away, Savage throws a big counter combo but Barrels just gets out of the way. Savage misses with the combination.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tu Barrels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Barrels shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Savage counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Barrels is lucky that one didn't land flush. Barrels misses with a leg kick and Savage counters with a thumping low kick. Barrels fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Barrels thows a left - swing and a miss! Savage appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Barrels throws a right hand that misses
and Savage counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Barrels falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Owen Savage! Owen Savage took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
