PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Worf Mogh (ranked 602 p4p, 906 weight class) and Spencer Williams (ranked 42 p4p, 74 weight class). Mogh comes into the arena with Gimme The Loot blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Worf Mogh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Spencer Williams!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams lands with a shot to the body.
Mogh throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Mogh clinches with his opponent.
Williams lands with a left to the head.
Williams lands a body shot.
A nice left hand lands by Williams.
Mogh is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Williams to keep the fight standing.
Williams lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Williams pulls Mogh into guard.
Mogh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mogh definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mogh makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Williams has his foot on Mogh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mogh works his way back into a safe position though.

Williams controls Mogh momentarily but Mogh frees himself.
Williams is looking to sweep but instead, Mogh has passed into half guard.
Williams is looking for a sweep. Mogh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mogh cracks Williams with an elbow. That is naaassty.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mogh lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mogh looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Mogh slips a nice elbow through Williams's hands, connecting with Williams's forehead.

Mogh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mogh working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Mogh lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Mogh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Williams is refusing to be controlled, as Mogh sits in half guard.

Mogh is looking to take a break and control but Williams is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Some bone on bone action there as Mogh checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

The fighters circling - Mogh throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Mogh tries to score a power double leg takedown but Williams sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mogh somewhat.

Mogh is looking to clinch but Williams is avoiding it.
Williams looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Mogh closes this distance looking for a takedown but Williams circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Worf Mogh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mogh drops down looking for a counter takedown but Williams sprawls and moves away.

Mogh drops down looking for a counter takedown but Williams sprawls and moves away.
Williams ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mogh moves away.

Williams takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

enabling Mogh to counter with a crisp jab.
Williams is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mogh rather than just go for the knockout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mogh doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.

Spencer Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looked like Mogh was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Williams.

Mogh on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Williams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Spencer Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Williams's coach down at Copes was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Williams's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Mogh fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mogh stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Williams.
Williams tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Mogh is able to avoid easily.
Mogh changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Mogh jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Williams throws a hook to the side of Mogh's head but Mogh sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Williams lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mogh will feel that in the morning.
Mogh lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mogh catches Williams napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Williams to the canvas!

Williams is rocked!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mogh's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Williams is still in real trouble! Can Mogh finish him?

Mogh is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mogh stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Williams seems to have recovered his senses.
Williams utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Williams isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mogh stacks Williams on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mogh!

Mogh landing strikes from the mount and Williams is in trouble!
Williams is squirming around, avoiding Mogh's attempts to control the action.

Mogh is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Williams to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Williams shrugs it off.
Williams regains half guard.
Mogh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mogh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Williams with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mogh is working for a submission of some sort.

And that's the end of the fight!
Worf Mogh showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mogh has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Worf Mogh thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
