Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Gable (ranked 1398 p4p, 1553 weight class) and Grigori Golov (ranked 126 p4p, 137 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Gable! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grigori Golov! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gable scores with a nice strike. Golov misses with a two punch combination.
Gable scores with a hook. Golov closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gable's guard. Golov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Golov postures up in Gable's guard and throws a big left but Gable blocks it. Gable pulls Golov in to control the position. Golov trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Golov controls from within his opponent's guard. Golov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gable is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gable is pulling down on Golov's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Golov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gable bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Golov's guard. Golov is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Golov is continuing to stall. Gable postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Golov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gable is one step ahead there. Gable throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gable accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gable has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gable trying to control the position from guard on top but Golov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gable accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Gable lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gable is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Golov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Golov wants to sweep but no luck. Golov keeping moving, preventing Gable from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Gable moves away from the strike by Golov. Gable half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gable moves out of range of the strikes. Golov walks into a straight right hand from Gable. Jab, jab by Golov - just one landing. Gable shoots in for a takedown but Golov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Gable throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Golov was covering up waiting for the punch and Gable finishes the takedown easily into guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gable accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Golov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gable throws an elbow that misses. Golov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gable's guard. Nice move by Golov!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Golov preventing the sweep. Golov slips nicely into half guard. Golov trying to control from half guard but Gable is working away. Gable avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Golov. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gable makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gable. Gable is adopting a defensive guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dan Gable will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Golov misses with a straight left. Gable fails with a takedown attempt. Golov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gable was covering up waiting for the punch and Golov finishes the takedown easily into guard. Gable pushes Golov off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Golov throws an overhand right that lands on Gable's shoulder, as Gable tries to avoid the shot. Gable throws a low kick, looking for Golov's leg but Golov calmly moves out of range. Gable gets a takedown into half guard. Gable works his foot free and advances to mount. Gable looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Gable lands a big shot there that rocks Golov but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Gable has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Golov's face.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gable throwing strikes here but Golov is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Gable misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Gable sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Gable avoids the attempt from Golov to control. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gable cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
We've been hearing that Gable has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. A big strike lands for Gable! That's really hurt Golov and he's turned his back - Gable keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Gable jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
