PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stevo Caruga (ranked 599 p4p, 2344 weight class) and Trage Tragedy (ranked 23 p4p, 92 weight class). Tragedy has chosen Bury Me In Southern Ground by Rebel Son as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stevo Caruga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trage Tragedy!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Caruga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tragedy's guard.
Caruga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tragedy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Caruga pushing down on Tragedy's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Caruga is looking for a kimura but Tragedy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Caruga to get the leverage.

Caruga seems to be looking for submissions.

Caruga is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Caruga is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Caruga is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Caruga is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Tragedy to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tragedy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Caruga. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Some bone on bone action there as Caruga checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Caruga feinted with a counter takedown.
Tragedy throws a lazy right hand but Caruga sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Tragedy slaps away a takedown attempt from Caruga, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Tragedy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Caruga counters with a shoot takedown. Tragedy fights it but they end up in guard.
Caruga trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Caruga is working hard here to advance position.

Caruga postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tragedy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Caruga, into his guard.


Caruga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tragedy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tragedy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Caruga throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tragedy escapes and throws Caruga's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Caruga is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tragedy off and has taken his back!

Caruga working for a choke but Tragedy is defending well.
Tragedy is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Caruga off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Caruga is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Tragedy is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Stevo Caruga!
A relieved looking Stevo Caruga thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
