PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Micah Frank (ranked 1816 p4p, 1743 weight class) and Marcus Hansen (ranked 231 p4p, 221 weight class). Hansen has chosen Black Sabbath - Iron Man as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Micah Frank!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hansen darts in looking for a takedown but Frank gets double underhooks and turns Hansen into the cage.
Hansen misses with the combination.
Frank scores with a hook to the body. Hansen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Frank throws a nice inside leg kick.
Frank throws a half hearted mid kick.
And Hansen tries to counter it with a takedown but Frank pushes his down on his head and steps out.
The crowd cheers as Frank lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hansen doesn't seem phased though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This has been an exciting period of action!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hansen crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Frank - the referee stops the clock and Hansen gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Frank. Hansen manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Hansen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hansen stalks Frank and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Frank's face. Frank staggers backwards, shaken.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hansen avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

It looks like Micah Frank has been cut.
Frank throws a hook but Hansen blocks it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Frank darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hansen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Frank looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Hansen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Frank is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
