PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Tucker (ranked 332 p4p, 1064 weight class) and Inigo Montoya (ranked 45 p4p, 143 weight class). Montoya has chosen The Crystal Method - Play For Real (Dirtyphonics Remix) as his entrance music. Jeffrey Tucker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeffrey Tucker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Inigo Montoya!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Montoya looks to land a combination but Tucker avoids it well.
Tucker misses the shot to the body.
Montoya wants to clinch up but Tucker keeps it at a distance.
Montoya throws an overhand right that lands on Tucker's shoulder, as Tucker tries to avoid the shot.
Montoya swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Tucker counter with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice defenses there by Montoya.
Tucker throws a body punch but Montoya moves out of range.

Montoya takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Tucker lands a jab.

It looks like Inigo Montoya has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Montoya scores with a sloppy right hand. Tucker should have avoided that one.
Tucker connects with a right hand. Montoya shakes it off.
Tucker misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Montoya.
Tucker sets himself, and Montoya steps forward looking for the clinch! Tucker avoids it this time.

Tucker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Montoya moves away.

Tucker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Montoya closes the distance and lands a one-two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Montoya digs a good body shot into Tucker's ribs.

Montoya throws a right and a left that both miss.
A jab from Montoya finds it's way through Tucker's defenses.
Montoya wants to clinch up but Tucker keeps it at a distance.
Tucker thinks about countering with a head kick.
Tucker throws a jab but it's blocked by Montoya.
Tucker misses with an attempted mid kick.

Montoya misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tucker.
Tucker was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Tucker bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Tucker seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Montoya throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tucker swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Tucker dodges the punch combination from Montoya.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tucker connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Montoya misses with a combination
and Tucker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Tucker takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Inigo Montoya seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montoya tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tucker paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tucker seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Tucker throws a poor cross that misses
and Tucker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The fight stays on the outside here - Montoya looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Montoya in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Montoya drops Tucker with a right and a left! Montoya comes rushing in but Tucker regains his composure and manages to keep Montoya in guard.

Tucker is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tucker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Montoya throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Montoya seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montoya has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Let's hope that Montoya has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Montoya scores with a jab. Tucker acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Montoya checks a leg kick.
Tucker throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Montoya counters with a nice body shot.
Tucker keeps the fight on the outside.

Good work by Tucker as he checks the leg kick.
Tucker swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Montoya lands a really nice looking cross but Tucker seems unphased.
Inigo Montoya is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Tucker does no damage.
A little jabbing left from Montoya on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Montoya gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tucker tries to break free but Montoya pushes him back against the cage.

Tucker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tucker connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Inigo Montoya showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Montoya avoids the body shot from Tucker.

Oooooh!!! Tucker has knocked Montoya down with a huge combo! Tucker steps away and waves a wobbly Montoya back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Montoya is rocked!
Tucker lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Montoya crumples to the floor! Tucker milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jeffrey Tucker!
In defeat, Inigo Montoya stepped up to the mic, saying 'Inigo Montoya: Who are you? Man in Black: No one of consequence. Inigo Montoya: I must know... Man in Black: Get used to disappointment. Inigo Montoya: Que.'.
