PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Stewart (ranked 730 p4p, 1050 weight class) and Arthur King (ranked 96 p4p, 136 weight class). Stewart comes into the arena with Tupac - Hit 'Em Up blaring out of the sound system. Danny Stewart could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Arthur King's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur King!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stewart misses with a two punch combination.
King drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Stewart defends it well.

King closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - King lands in his opponent's guard.
King postures up.
King landing with the ground and pound.
Stewart looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King trying to control but Stewart is working from the bottom.
King has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King chips away with some ground and pound.

It looks like Danny Stewart has been cut.
Stewart preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Stewart is pulling down on King's head to control his posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stewart pulls King in to control the position.
King stopping the sweep attempt from Stewart.
King trying to control but Stewart is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
King keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stewart.
King misses with a takedown attempt - Stewart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Stewart has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Temple of Fitness in the buildup to the fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

King dives in and scores a takedown into Stewart's guard.
King loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stewart lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Stewart gets to his feet - King follows without any prompting.
Stewart slips under a jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stewart jabs King to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Stewart takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nice sprawl there from Stewart as King shoots in.
A little feinted left hand from Stewart on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
King misses with a lunging right hand
and Stewart connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stewart leaves King with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Danny Stewart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur King.
King fails with the takedown.
A big left from King misses.
Stewart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by King.
King changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
King slips a straight right by Stewart.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stewart throws an uppercut from half a mile away. King sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Stewart scores with a one two! King had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stewart scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. King doesn't seem bothered though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stewart looks to throw the jab but King is out of range.
Danny Stewart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
King throws a shot from downtown. Stewart moves away and avoids it.
King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stewart swivels and escapes.
Stewart is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from King.
A slow jab from Stewart misses its intended target.
A jab from Stewart misses.
Arthur King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King looks to land a left hand but Stewart moved out of range nicely.
King walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That's five minutes gone in the round.
Stewart fails with an attempt to clinch.
And King tries to counter it with a takedown but Stewart pushes his down on his head and steps out.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King thows a left - swing and a miss!
Stewart tries to counter by moving into the clinch but King manages to circle out of the way.

Stewart feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends King sprawling to the canvas! King rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Stewart finish him?!

King is rocked!
A looping hook to the body misses from Stewart. King does a little dance to reset his feet.
And King tries to counter it with a takedown but Stewart pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Stewart sends King crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Stewart is motioning to the referee to let King up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
King is still on wobbly legs! Can Stewart finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Stewart! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Danny Stewart!
Danny Stewart seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
