Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Rumiantsev (ranked 776 p4p, 896 weight class) and Flynn Knightley (ranked 66 p4p, 72 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Tomas Rumiantsev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flynn Knightley! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knightley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rumiantsev swats him away and circles back towards the center. Knightley moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. We've been hearing reports that Rumiantsev has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Knightley shoots in but no luck this time. Knightley scores with a jab to the body. Rumiantsev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rumiantsev lands with a hook. Knightley tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Knightley cracks Rumiantsev with an open hand slap. Knightley slips a jab from Rumiantsev. Rumiantsev misses with a looping left. Knightley misses with a takedown attempt letting Rumiantsev counter with a right hand. Flynn Knightley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Knightley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rumiantsev avoids it really well and circles away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rumiantsev feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Knightleys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Knightley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rumiantsev swats him away and circles back towards the center. Knightley is looking to clinch. Rumiantsev ducks right into an uppercut from Knightley. Knightley misses with a looping right. Rumiantsev gets caught flat footed, as Knightley shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rumiantsev is trying to control the position but Knightley postures up. Rumiantsev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Knightley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rumiantsev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
