Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Obama (ranked 267 p4p, 971 weight class) and Mabuz Bacia (ranked 32 p4p, 123 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mabuz Bacia!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obama tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bacia manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bacia takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like Mabuz Bacia has been cut.
A low kick from Bacia misses

and Obama counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Obama lands with a short shot to the head.
Obama throws a punch but it's blocked by Bacia.
Obama misses with a hook to the ribs.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Obama.
Obama lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Bacia looks winded!
Obama misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Obama misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A frustrated look appears on Bacia's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Obama has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bacia misses with a hook. Obama ducked under it nicely.
Bacia throws a head kick but Obama moves out of range.
Obama jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Obama takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Obama lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A chopping leg kick lands by Obama.

Obama moves into the clinch.
Bacia has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Obama lands with a light punch inside.
A hook to the body from Obama.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bacia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Obama connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bacia momentarily.
An inside leg kick from Obama misses.
Bacia scores with a nice right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Obama moves forwards but Bacia connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bacia waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Obama.
An attempted straight right counter from Obama misses the target.
Bacia misses with a left hand
and Obama counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bacia thinking.
A swing and a miss from Obama.
A nice side step and Bacia releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Jab, jab by Obama - just one landing.

That has opened up Mabuz Bacia's cut even more.

Obama drives through and clinches with Bacia against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Obama dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mabuz Bacia's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bacia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Obama.
Bacia lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bacia jabs Obama right on the nose. Obama blinks but takes it well.

Obama rushes Bacia and presses him up against the cage.
Tom Obama has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Bacia blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Bacia is trying to force a seperation but Obama has the dominant position.
Obama doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A head punch on the inside from Obama fails to land.

Bacia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Obama throws a lazy right hand but Bacia sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bacia swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Bacia is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Obama.
Obama wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Obama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Bacia! But no joy.
A jab from Obama does it's job there.
Bacia has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bacia there as he acknowledges the shot.
Obama throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A left lands for Obama.
Obama wants to clinch
and Bacia connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Obama misses with a left hand
and Bacia counters with a three punch combo that has Obama backing up. Obama nods at Bacia to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bacia throws a left and a right that both miss
and Bacia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bacia gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Obama gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Obama!

A very excited looking Tom Obama made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
