Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Macka Briggs (ranked 952 p4p, 665 weight class) and Ken Vrjalya (ranked 122 p4p, 82 weight class). Briggs comes into the arena with Stepping Razor by Peter Tosh blaring out of the sound system. Macka Briggs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Macka Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Vrjalya!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Briggs misses.
Briggs has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Vrjalya counters with a nice double leg into side control. Briggs won't be happy with that.

Vrjalya tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vrjalya has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vrjalya controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vrjalya is looking to take a break and control but Briggs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vrjalya wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Briggs, who protects the arm well.

Vrjalya is trying to get an arm triangle but Briggs is defending well.
Briggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vrjalya on the ground.
Vrjalya is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vrjalya wants to lay and pray for a moment but Briggs keeps working.

Vrjalya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Vrjalya is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Briggs knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Vrjalya is working to tighten his grip on Briggs's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Briggs has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vrjalya is really squeezing tight and eventually Briggs passes out! Vrjalya breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Ken Vrjalya!
Ken Vrjalya very nearly forgot to thank Fantasy Threads amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
