PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Steel (ranked 530 p4p, 1111 weight class) and Alois Vrana (ranked 14 p4p, 146 weight class). Alois Vrana told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Cole Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alois Vrana!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel looks to land a right hand but Vrana moved out of range.
Steel connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Steel takes a swing at Vrana's ribcage but misses.
Vrana cracks Steel with a right hand to the side of the head.
Steel shoots for a double leg takedown but Vrana sprawls well. He's pushed Steel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Steel misses with an uppercut.
Steel takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Vrana throws an off balance right hand
and Steel counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice cross by Vrana.
Steel throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Steel slips a jab from Vrana.
Nice body punch from Vrana.
Vrana throws a head kick that misses.
Vrana tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steel was well out of range. Poor timing from Vrana.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vrana ducks under a wild hook from Steel.
Steel throws a body punch but Vrana moves out of range.
Steel throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Steel throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vrana uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Steel.
Steel throws a predictable looking body shot
and Vrana counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Vrana circles away from the clinch attempt.
Steel looks to land a left hand but Vrana moved out of range nicely.
Steel tries to work over Vrana's front leg with a kick but Vrana checks it.
It seemed like Vrana was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Vrana takes one to the side of the head.
Vrana lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Steel at a distance.
A cross from Vrana lands.
Vrana displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Steel.

Steel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vrana.

We've been told by Steel's head coaches at BKC Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A jab from Steel does it's job there.
Vrana pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Steel back to the cage. Vrana follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big right from Vrana misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vrana avoids the body shot from Steel.
Vrana missing with a left hand there. Steel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Vrana scoring well with a low kick there.
Vrana uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Steel.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Vrana! But no joy.
Vrana slips under a jab.
Vrana doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Steel misses with a wild body shot.
Vrana swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nice jab there from Steel.

Vrana is rocked!
Steel flashes Vrana a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Vrana's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Vrana crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Steel punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

During a confident post fight interview, Cole Steel thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
