Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Traumen (ranked 101 p4p, 378 weight class) and Jesse-James Hopson (ranked 15 p4p, 45 weight class). Hopson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Home among the gumtrees.. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 18 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucas Traumen! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesse-James Hopson! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Traumen attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Lucas Traumen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed right hand from Traumen misses the target. Traumen looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hopson feints the counter takedown. Hopson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Traumen finds it's way round the side to connect with Hopson's head. Traumen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hopson. Traumen throws a lazy uppercut
and Hopson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Traumen won't be happy with that. Hopson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Traumen is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hopson connects with a decent elbow. Traumen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Hopson working away. Hopson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Traumen down.

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Hopson gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Hopson apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Hopson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Traumen on his heels. He'll look to pass Traumen's guard now, I'm sure. Traumen pushes Hopson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hopson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Traumen is not content to let Hopson control the position. Traumen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Traumen is looking for a sweep. Hopson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hopson working over Traumen with some ground and pound. Traumen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Hopson wants to take a breather but Traumen is having none of it. Traumen wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lucas Traumen. I think Traumen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Lucas Traumen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
