Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 23 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Turcotte!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turcotte uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Turcotte misses with a hook to the body
and Rome counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rome is defended easily by Turcotte.
Turcotte scores with the left hand. Rome knows he should have avoided that one.
Turcotte tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rome was well out of range. Poor timing from Turcotte.
Rome is looking to counter punch.
Rome shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Turcotte throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rome.

Rome goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Turcotte rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rome's guard! Nice work there by Turcotte!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Turcotte defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rome looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Turcotte engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Turcotte trying to control the position from guard on top but Rome is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rome looking for a sweep. Not yet Rome, not yet.

Rome is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rome seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Turcotte avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rome has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Turcotte doesn't defend quickly enough and Rome has managed to lock this one up! Can Turcotte escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Rome on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Curtis Rome!
