Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wille Thai (ranked 15 p4p, 193 weight class) and Guy Le Franc (ranked 4 p4p, 24 weight class). Le Franc has chosen [I Can't Get No] Satisfaction as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Wille Thai!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guy Le Franc!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Thai shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Le Franc sprawls well. Le Franc wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thai gets slowly back to his feet.
Le Franc swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Thai shoots in looking for a takedown but Le Franc manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thai's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As Thai backs off Le Franc throws a huge counter combo but Thai manages to avoid it all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thai swings around for an armbar but Le Franc sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Thai's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Le Franc got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Le Franc has managed to get both his arms back between Thai's legs - danger averted.

Thai isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Le Franc stacks Thai on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Le Franc!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Thai is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Le Franc to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Wille Thai will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown attempt by Thai or perhaps it was just good defense by Le Franc, which made it look bad.

Thai tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Le Franc manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Wille Thai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It seemed like Le Franc was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Thai changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Le Franc tries to avoid it but Thai manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Le Franc to the ground. Le Franc escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Thai drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Le Franc gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Le Franc swings wildly with an uppercut but Thai uses good head movement to avoid it.

Thai drops down looking for an ankle pick but Le Franc pulls his leg out and moves away.
