Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Haruki Johnson (ranked 52 p4p, 896 weight class) and Jet Gunner (ranked 11 p4p, 118 weight class). Johnson comes into the arena with Shooting Stars ft. Toro y moi (Flume Cover) blaring out of the sound system. Haruki Johnson had a look across the cage there at his opponent. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Haruki Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jet Gunner!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunner throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Johnson counters with a right hand to the body.
A low kick from Gunner misses
and Johnson counters with a good, hard body kick but Gunner shrugs it off.
Gunner throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnson is looking to counter punch.
Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gunner stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Johnson keeps the fight on the outside.
Gunner moves out of range as Johnson throws a body kick.
Gunner throws a head kick that misses.
Gunner uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Gunner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gunner misses with a straight right.
Johnson quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Gunner misses with a looping right.
Gunner thuds a left hand into Johnson's body.
Gunner misses with a hook
and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gunner throws out a powerful jab.
Gunner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson throws a quick counter head kick but Gunner was just out of range.
Johnson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gunner sprawling to the canvas! Gunner rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Johnson finish him?!
It looks like Jet Gunner has been cut.
Johnson slips under a jab from Gunner.
Gunner wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Gunner throws a head kick but Johnson moves out of range.
Gunner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gunner lunges at Johnson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Johnson's hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gunner throws a lazy head kick
and Johnson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Johnson slips a jab from Gunner.
Johnson thinks about countering with a body kick.
Johnson fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Gunner square on the jaw! Damn, Gunner is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Haruki Johnson!
