Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Nichols (ranked 1215 p4p, 2073 weight class) and Evan Ekbomb (ranked 127 p4p, 200 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan Ekbomb!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nichols keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ekbomb.
Nichols throws a leg kick but Ekbomb moved away.
Nichols throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Nichols swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Ekbomb counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nichols tries for a takedown but Ekbomb circles away easily
and Ekbomb makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Nichols misses with a body kick.
Ekbomb scores with the left hand. Nichols knows he should have avoided that one.
Nichols walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ekbomb checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Nichols throws a shot from downtown. Ekbomb moves away and avoids it.
A telegraphed right hand from Nichols misses the target.
It seemed like Ekbomb was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Ekbomb dodges the punch combination from Nichols.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ekbomb slips under a jab.
Ekbomb swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nichols.
The fighters circling - Nichols throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nichols misses with a hook to the body

and Ekbomb counters with a nice right hand that sends Nichols toppling to the canvas! Nichols scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Ekbomb finish him?!

Nichols lands with a nice combination. Ekbomb backs away looking to recover.

A little feinted left hand from Nichols on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Ekbomb throws a series of punches but Nichols moves out of range.
Nichols throws an overhand right that lands on Ekbomb's shoulder, as Ekbomb tries to avoid the shot.

and Ekbomb counters with a nice right hand that sends Nichols toppling to the canvas! Nichols scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Ekbomb finish him?!
Oh Nichols is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A low kick from Nichols misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Ekbomb ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Nichols is breathing heavily.
Nichols leaves his chin hanging out and Ekbomb seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Nichols crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
