With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brad Pfanne!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares sizes up Pfanne with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Pfanne darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Soares makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Pfanne drops his shoulder and cracks Soares with a huge uppercut! Soares goes down! Can Pfanne finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pfanne working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Pfanne stands up over Soares, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Soares is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pfanne throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Soares works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Pfanne tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Soares defends well and Pfanne ends up having to push Soares into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Soares was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Pfanne throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Soares tumbling to the canvas!

Pfanne drops back, looking for a kneebar! Soares looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Soares looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Soares!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soares postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Pfanne is looking to reverse the position.
Soares looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pfanne is avoiding damage well.
Soares cracks Pfanne with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Soares wants to control but Pfanne is keeping him busy.
Soares misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Soares just content to control the position.
Soares taking a break here but Pfanne is having none of it and regains half guard.

Pfanne keeping moving, preventing Soares from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Pfanne dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pfanne shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soares pinned against the cage. Soares gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pfanne looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gilbervan Soares is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Pfanne takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
