PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Rozhkov (ranked 245 p4p, 983 weight class) and Third Wife (ranked 29 p4p, 115 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Third Wife was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Third Wife!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wife scores with a body shot.
Wife has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wife dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A left lands for Wife.

It looks like Alexander Rozhkov has been cut.
Rozhkov's corner calls for a 1-2. Rozhkov obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Wife throws a right hand that misses
and Wife takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Wife takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Rozhkov gets the takedown into side control.
Wife really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rozhkov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rozhkov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rozhkov is trying to ground and pound but Wife uses the momentary lack of control by Rozhkov to regain half guard.
Rozhkov is stalling here. Wife is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rozhkov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wife has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Rozhkov tries to improve position but can't.
Rozhkov is trying to control Wife's posture but Wife avoids it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wife tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rozhkov manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Wife prevents Rozhkov from improving his position.
Wife wants to stand up but Rozhkov has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Wife is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Rozhkov manages to get to full guard.

Rozhkov lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rozhkov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wife works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rozhkov throws an elbow that misses. Wife uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rozhkov's guard. Nice move by Wife!

Rozhkov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wife is defending against the submission attempts here by Rozhkov.

Rozhkov looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wife with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rozhkov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Rozhkov will probably get the nod.

Rozhkov swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Rozhkov lands a few punches from side control.
Rozhkov in side control, throwing shots but Wife defends.
Rozhkov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wife sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rozhkov scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Wife to see if he's OK.

Rozhkov creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Rozhkov in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Wife looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Rozhkov turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
