Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sean Rivers (ranked 1681 p4p, 3961 weight class) and Benjamin Walton (ranked 233 p4p, 450 weight class). Rivers comes to the cage accompanied by Gojira - Sphinx. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sean Rivers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benjamin Walton! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivers dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Walton cracks Rivers with a right hand to the side of the head.
It looks like Sean Rivers has been cut. Walton ducks under a wild hook from Rivers. Walton scores with a shot to the body.
Rivers has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Walton throws a body punch but Rivers moves out of range. Rivers is looking to counter punch. Rivers lands with a thumping leg kick.

Walton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rivers. Walton looks like he wants to counter punch here. Walton takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Sean Rivers's cut is getting worse. Sean Rivers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Walton takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Walton might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Rivers has got the better of the exchanges. Walton lands the left hand. Rivers lands a jab to the head.

Walton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. The fighters circling - Rivers throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Walton now looks to counter with a shot at the body. A bone on bone clash there as Walton blocks the leg kick.

Rivers scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Rivers connects with a leg kick. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rivers.

Walton's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Rivers tries a low kick but Walton avoids it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Walton! But no joy. Rivers feints and then cracks Walton's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Walton down. Walton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action! Rivers lands a really nice looking cross but Walton seems unphased.
