Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Hanson (ranked 229 p4p, 848 weight class) and Iov Kuzmin (ranked 31 p4p, 111 weight class). Hanson comes to the cage accompanied by Subcouds - on red. Kuzmin has chosen La Caution - Thé à la Menthe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, David Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Iov Kuzmin! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Hanson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kuzmin sprawls well initially but Hanson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kuzmin is defending against the submission attempts here by Hanson.
Kuzmin wants to improve his position but Hanson is controlling well.
Hanson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Hanson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kuzmin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hanson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanson seems to be looking for submissions.

Hanson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hanson landing with the ground and pound. Kuzmin felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Hanson is looking for a kimura but Kuzmin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hanson to get the leverage. Hanson is working for a kimura but Kuzmin is defending it quite comfortably.
Kuzmin is trying to get back to full guard. Hanson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanson is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Kuzmin to slip a leg under and get back to full guard. Hanson with a nice head shot there. Hanson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kuzmin keeping full guard, as Hanson tries to pass. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hanson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hanson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kuzmin swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hanson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hanson advances position into side control! Kuzmin is looking for a sweep. Hanson misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Hanson is trying to get an arm triangle but Kuzmin is defending well. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hanson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kuzmin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Kuzmin can't do much from the bottom here. Kuzmin is looking to regain half guard here but Hanson keeps moving and retains side control. Kuzmin wants to control but Hanson postures up. Hanson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kuzmin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hanson but great work by Kuzmin. Hanson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Nice strikes from Kuzmin there.

Kuzmin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kuzmin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kuzmin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hanson's head. Hanson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kuzmin is one step ahead there. Kuzmin landing with the ground and pound. Kuzmin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Kuzmin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Hanson is rocked! Kuzmin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Oh Hanson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kuzmin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kuzmin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hanson wants to sweep here but Kuzmin controlling him for the moment. Hanson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kuzmin sprawls well. He's pushed Hanson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kuzmin looks like he wants to counter punch here. Hanson seems to have got his legs back now. Hanson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kuzmin pinned against the cage. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. David Hanson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hanson drops back looking for a leg! Kuzmin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kuzmin manages to kick Hanson off! Hanson jumps back into Kuzmin's guard. Kuzmin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hanson connects with a nice short shot to Kuzmin's temple. David Hanson dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! Hanson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kuzmin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hanson somewhat. Hanson closes the distance and clinches up with Kuzmin, looking for a takedown. Hanson pushes Kuzmin against the cage but Kuzmin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kuzmin stuffs the takedown attempt from Hanson. Hanson gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Hanson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kuzmin! But no joy. Iov Kuzmin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanson fails with the takedown. A little jabbing left from Kuzmin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Hanson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kuzmin can do to turn this around?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hanson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hanson is countered with a crisp right hand from Kuzmin that sends him to the canvas! Kuzmin follows him to the mat into side control.

Kuzmin looks up at the clock and then as Hanson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kuzmin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Hanson tries to buck Kuzmin off but Kuzmin is having none of it. A big shot lands for Kuzmin! That's hurt Hanson! Will he recover? Kuzmin fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Iov Kuzmin! Iov Kuzmin spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
