Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 37 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Hall! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Naruesorn Chaiyachue! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chaiyachue lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hall circles away quickly and effectively. Hall shoots in looking for a takedown. Chaiyachue tries to sprawl out of it but Hall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chaiyachue manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Chaiyachue tries to keep at a distance but Hall has taken the fight into the clinch. Hall has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chaiyachue avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Chaiyachue has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chaiyachue tries to throw a body punch but Hall avoids it by throwing Chaiyachue back against the cage. Hall effectively controlling the action here. Hall on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Hall is looking for a kimura but Chaiyachue is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hall to get the leverage. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hall in particular looking to stall. Hall has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Chaiyachue defend it? Hall steps over the head and cranks it - Chaiyachue is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Hall!

During a confident post fight interview, Richard Hall thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. In defeat, Naruesorn Chaiyachue stepped up to the mic, saying 'I wanna thank the fans who watch our fight today, I didn't get the win today but I will be back stronger on my next fight.'.
