The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Béliveau misses with a wild body shot.

Sycek shoots in for a takedown but Béliveau shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Béliveau throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sycek on the side of the head.
Béliveau has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Sycek's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Béliveau connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sycek scrambles back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Béliveau does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Sycek gets control of Béliveau's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sycek will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Béliveau wants to get up but he can't break Sycek's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Béliveau has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Béliveau scores with a sloppy right hand. Sycek should have avoided that one.
Oh Sycek is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sycek is looking to clinch but Béliveau is avoiding it.
