Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Boris (ranked 2406 p4p, 3401 weight class) and Will Scherma (ranked 320 p4p, 413 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Boris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Will Scherma!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scherma throws a wild body kick that Boris sees coming a mile off.
Boris shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scherma as he jumps to the side.
Scherma ducks under a wild hook from Boris.
Scherma misses with a wild body shot.
Boris swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Scherma throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Scherma looks to throw a body kick
and Boris counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Will Scherma has been cut.

Scherma gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Boris to score an easy takedown into full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boris seems to be working for a kimura but Scherma defends the submission attempt.

Scherma really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Scherma manages to reverse the position and now he's in Boris's guard. Nice work there by Scherma.

Scherma has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Boris to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Scherma is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Boris pulls down on the head and he's put Scherma to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Boris!
In his post fight interview, John Boris started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
