Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Shaw (ranked 2260 p4p, 949 weight class) and Jeremy Marks (ranked 292 p4p, 125 weight class). Shaw comes to the cage accompanied by Elvis Costello - My Mood Swings. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Shaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Marks! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Shaw misses its intended target. Shaw finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Shaw backing away here, and Marks unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Shaw scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Shaw has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Shinobi Martial Arts & Ninjutsu in the buildup to the fight. Marks throws a predictable looking body shot
and Shaw decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marks's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shaw wants to pass the guard but Marks is keeping the position. Marks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shaw is one step ahead there. Shaw is looking to advance position but Marks has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaw is looking to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marks sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Shaw is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Shaw gets back to half guard. Shaw wants to improve his position but Marks is controlling well.
Marks looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Marks stalling away here and it's allowed Shaw to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Shaw is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Marks controlling from the top position. Marks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shaw. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marks preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marks stays in close to Shaw's body and controls the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Shaw lands a glancing blow to the side of Marks's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Shaw throws a jab but it's blocked by Marks. Marks attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Shaw stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Marks. Shaw connects with the punch. Shaw lands a nice shot to the body.
Marks moves out of range of the strikes. Jeremy Marks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Shaw pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Shaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marks.
Marks bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Shaw just misses with a punch to the body.
Shaw throws a leg kick that is checked and Marks counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Shaw blocks a head kick by Marks.
A slapping leg kick lands for Marks.
Shaw displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Marks throws out the jab. Shaw feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Markss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's five minutes gone in the round. Shaw is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Marks. Marks takes one on the button. Marks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A chopping leg kick lands by Shaw. Marks turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Marks misses the jab. Shaw thows a left - swing and a miss! Marks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shaw throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Marks stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Marks cracks Shaw with an open hand slap. Shaw with a body punch. A glancing blow. Shaw thumps Marks with a low kick. Marks fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shaw on the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shaw jabbing away but nothing is landing. Shaw takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shaw was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
That's six minutes gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Shaw blocks the leg kick.
Shaw is looking to counter punch. Shaw feints and as Marks raises his hands in defense, Shaw changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Marks pulls Shaw in close to prevent any damage. Shaw drops back looking for a leg! Marks is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marks manages to kick Shaw off! Shaw jumps back into Marks's guard. Shaw trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Marks is looking to stand up but Shaw isn't so interested in that idea. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Shaw pushing down on Marks's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Marks manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Shaw keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Marks lands a left hand.
Shaw tries for a takedown but Marks manages to get underhooks.
Marks breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Marks misses with a head kick.
Shaw misses with an uppercut. Danny Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good leg kick by Shaw. Shaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marks pinned against the cage. Marks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Marks let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Shaw throws a leg kick that misses. Marks keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shaw shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marks defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Shaw. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marks uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shaw.
Shaw wants to land a leg kick but Marks is out of range. Shaw throws a leg kick but Marks moved away. A jab from Marks does it's job there.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Marks's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shaw connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Marks scrambles back to his feet. A big left from Shaw misses. Marks pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shaw is out of range and Marks settles back down. Shaw connects with the punch. Shaw uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Marks.
No luck for Shaw with that takedown attempt. Marks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shaw takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Shaw misses with a straight right. Shaw takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Good leg kick by Marks. Shaw throws a low kick but Marks moves out of range easily. Marks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shaw. Shaw comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Danny Shaw will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Marks throws a head kick but Shaw moves out of range.
Marks connects with the punch. Marks goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A jab from Shaw misses. Shaw checks a low kick from Marks. Danny Shaw is winning the standup battle so far. Shaw swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Marks bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Shaw is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Marks throws a counter combo. Marks gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Shaw. Marks throws a leg kick which misses Shaw's front leg but catches the back leg as Shaw tries to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaw closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Marks pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Shaw lands with a cross. Marks misses with a hook. Shaw ducked under it nicely. Shaw throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Marks sees it coming and avoids it easily. Marks follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. A low kick from Marks misses and Shaw counters with a nice double leg into guard. Marks wants to control but Shaw passes easily into half guard.
Marks won't allow Shaw to pass to mount. Shaw is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marks is just riding it out for now. Shaw eventually gives up the hold. Marks trying to hold on to Shaw's head to control him but Shaw postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marks wants to improve his position but Shaw is controlling well.
Shaw is keen to just control but Marks is a slippery customer. Marks trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marks prevents Shaw from taking his back. Shaw quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Shaw but it's paid off an Marks is forced to tap! Nice work by Shaw.
