Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Korppila (ranked 968 p4p, 642 weight class) and Jacob Handler (ranked 106 p4p, 70 weight class). Korppila comes to the cage accompanied by Mustasch - The Mauler. Handler has chosen KEEPINITBEEFY as his entrance music. Jacob Handler has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Tom Korppila's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Korppila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Handler!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Handler shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Handler showed some decent athleticism there.
Handler tries to pass to full mount but Korppila defends it.
Handler scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Korppila wants to control but Handler is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Korppila gets full guard.
Handler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Korppila swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Korppila working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Handler doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Handler manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Korppila looking to hit a scissor sweep but Handler is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Korppila is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Handler works his way to full guard. Good work.

Korppila is fighting to break Handler's control of his arms but Handler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Handler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Korppila trying to control but Handler is working from the bottom.
Korppila makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Handler tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Korppila throwing strikes from guard but Handler blocks nicely.

Handler wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Korppila tries to free his leg and advance position but Handler is retaining full guard.
Korppila has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Korppila wants to control from the top but Handler keeps moving.
Handler is pulling down on Korppila's head. It's preventing any offense from Korppila, at least for the moment.

Korppila working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Handler keeping full guard, as Korppila tries to pass.

Handler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Korppila gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Handler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Korppila's guard.

Handler postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Handler landing some decent shots from guard.
Handler wants to pass the guard but Korppila is keeping the position.
Korppila definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Handler passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Korppila is in trouble now - Handler has advanced to mount!
Korppila is working to get back to half guard.
Korppila taking shots to the head.
Handler lands a heavy elbow.

Korppila is rocked!
Handler lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Oh Korppila is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Korppila keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Korppila slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Handler passes to full mount!
Korppila is squirming around, avoiding Handler's attempts to control the action.
Korppila is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Handler cracks Korppila with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Handler! Korppila is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jacob Handler!
Our winner, Jacob Handler, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
The defeated Tom Korppila had this to say: 'Well didn’t that suck? He may have beaten me, but could he outwrestle a bear? I don’t think so.'.
