Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Spider Monkey (ranked 87 p4p, 109 weight class) and Jim Babcock (ranked 12 p4p, 16 weight class). Babcock is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Raiders Attack Vault City. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 28 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Spider Monkey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Babcock! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Babcock is looking to land body kicks. Monkey on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Monkey lands a head shot. Babcock on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Monkey cracks Babcock with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Monkey changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Monkey closes the distance and pushes Babcock back into the cage. I was talking to Monkey's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Both guys are working to get underhooks. A short uppercut from Monkey. Babcock blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Babcock breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Monkey thows a body kick. Babcock tries to catch it but that hurt him. Monkey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Babcock let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Monkey throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Babcock on the side of the head. Babcock slips under a jab. Babcock feints and then cracks Monkey's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Monkey down. Monkey tries a head kick but it misses.
Babcock throws out a counter right but Monkey avoids it with no problem. A nice leg kick from Babcock, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monkey lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Babcock throws a shot from downtown. Monkey moves away and avoids it. Monkey cracks Babcock with a good jab. Babcock throws a jab when Monkey was well out of range. As Babcock tries to get set, Monkey tries to push him back and clinch up but Babcock manages to avoid the attempt. Monkey scores with a sloppy right hand. Babcock should have avoided that one. A slapping leg kick lands for Monkey.
Babcock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Monkey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Babcock checks a leg kick. Monkey connects with a single shot there. Spider Monkey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Monkey is looking to slow Babcock down with leg kicks. A bone on bone clash there as Monkey blocks the leg kick.

Monkey is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Monkey dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Monkey cracks Babcock with a good jab. This has been an exciting period of action! Monkey feints and then cracks Babcock's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Babcock down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monkey tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Monkey fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Babcock is out of range. A little jabbing left from Babcock on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Monkey missing with a left hand there. Babcock was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Monkey connects with a looping right hand.

and Babcock counters with a lovely straight right hand! Monkey throws a leg kick that misses. Babcock chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Monkey can pounce on him.

Babcock moves out of range as Monkey strikes. Spider Monkey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Monkey loads up on a big right hand but Babcock slips the punch. Monkey throws a leg kick that misses. Babcock looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Monkey throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Babcock counters with a good, hard body kick but Monkey shrugs it off. Babcock wants to land a leg kick but Monkey is out of range. Monkey scores with a nice right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monkey tries to clinch but fails miserably and Babcock counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Babcock slips a straight right by Monkey. Monkey scores with a jab to the jaw. Monkey swings away with a body shot that misses
and Babcock counters with a takedown into side control. Monkey regains half guard, as Babcock was trying to land strikes. Babcock wants to free his trapped foot but Monkey is holding on for dear life with his legs. Monkey controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Monkey is refusing to be controlled, as Babcock sits in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monkey wants to get back to full guard but Babcock has passed into side control. Monkey managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Babcock.

You can see the frustration on Monkey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sloppy strikes there by Babcock. Monkey lands with a short head shot on the inside. Monkey throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Babcocks head. Babcock tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Babcock misses with a punch to the body.

Monkey throws a punch but it's blocked by Babcock. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monkey tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Babcock tries to work over Monkey's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Babcock doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Babcock gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Monkey regains guard.

Babcock wants to sweep here but Monkey controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monkey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Monkey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Babcock is trying to keep Monkey in close.
Monkey controls from within his opponent's guard. Babcock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Monkey is one step ahead there. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Monkey controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A shot to the liver by Monkey. Beautiful body shot. Monkey clobbers Babcock with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Monkey checks the leg kick. The fighters circling - Monkey throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Babcock tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monkey was well out of range. Poor timing from Babcock. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Monkey fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Babcock has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Nice straight punches there by Monkey. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Monkey. Monkey lands with an uppercut that bounces Babcock off the cage and back into range. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Spider Monkey dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Babcock fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jim Babcock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A low kick from Monkey misses and Babcock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Monkey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Babcock.
Decent striking displayed by Monkey there. Monkey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Babcock swats him away and circles back towards the center. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Babcock! But no joy. A telegraphed right hand from Monkey misses the target. Babcock wants to land a leg kick but Monkey is out of range. Monkey swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Monkey lands a really nice looking cross but Babcock seems unphased.
Monkey throws a leg kick that is checked and Babcock counters with a shoot takedown. Monkey fights it but they end up in guard. Monkey keeping moving, preventing Babcock from controlling successfully. Monkey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Babcock manages to get himself to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Babcock is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Babcock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Monkey defends it easily. Monkey forces his way into half guard. Jim Babcock has got the better of the ground game so far. Babcock gets back to full guard.
Babcock can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Monkey controls the pace. Monkey is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Babcock has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Monkey is looking to defend but Babcock has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Monkey! Babcock pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Monkey taps out and this one is all over!
