PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Hedegaard (ranked 603 p4p, 1326 weight class) and Chris Pauschi (ranked 76 p4p, 154 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Simon Hedegaard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Pauschi!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Pauschi stuffs the takedown.
Hedegaard shoots in and drives through. Pauschi sprawls well.
Pauschi is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Hedegaard shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pauschi is trying to defend but Hedegaard finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hedegaard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pauschi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've been hearing that Hedegaard has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Hedegaard is looking for a kimura but Pauschi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hedegaard to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hedegaard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pauschi wants to control but Hedegaard is keeping busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Pauschi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hedegaard thinking.

Hedegaard tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pauschi defends well and Hedegaard ends up having to push Pauschi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Chris Pauschi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Hedegaard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pauschi's waist but Pauschi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hedegaard off to one side.
