Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eli Vieira!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Vieira.
Martinez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Vieira cracks Martinez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Martinez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Martinez tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vieira avoids it.

Vieira has clasped his hands together around Martinez's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Martinez is trying to control Vieira's posture but Vieira avoids it.
Martinez manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Martinez has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Vieira wants to control his opponent's hands but Martinez gets his hands free.
Vieira is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Martinez is staying active.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Martinez's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Vieira tries to roll but Martinez sticks to his back.
Martinez connects with a big shot to the side of Vieira's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Vieira's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Martinez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Martinez. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

and Vieira counters with a nice uppercut.
Vieira ducks right into an uppercut from Martinez.
Martinez shoots in looking for a takedown. Vieira tries to sprawl out of it but Martinez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vieira manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Martinez has his arm under Vieira's chin here. Game over son! Martinez squeezes tightly and Vieira is forced to tap out!
