Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ahjo Kuomanen (ranked 48 p4p, 1248 weight class) and Jouni Joukahainen (ranked 6 p4p, 151 weight class). Kuomanen comes into the arena with HonestKey - One Shot blaring out of the sound system. Jouni Joukahainen has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ahjo Kuomanen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jouni Joukahainen! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuomanen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kuomanen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joukahainen keeps working. Joukahainen tries to roll over but Kuomanen keeps him under control. Joukahainen gets full guard. Joukahainen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kuomanen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kuomanen is working Joukahainen over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kuomanen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Joukahainen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kuomanen is fighting to break Joukahainen's control of his arms but Joukahainen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kuomanen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Kuomanen postures up and lands a big shot to Joukahainen's brow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kuomanen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Joukahainen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Joukahainen is pulling down on Kuomanen's head. It's preventing any offense from Kuomanen, at least for the moment. Joukahainen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kuomanen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kuomanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Joukahainen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Joukahainen has momentary wrist control but Kuomanen slips an elbow through the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuomanen throws a big right hand that misses. Kuomanen scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Joukahainen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joukahainen holds on and takes a little breather. Kuomanen is stalling in the full guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kuomanen is looking to work some ground and pound but Joukahainen has wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joukahainen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kuomanen. Joukahainen looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jouni Joukahainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Joukahainen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kuomanen finds it's way round the side to connect with Joukahainen's head. Joukahainen is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Kuomanen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kuomanen. Joukahainen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kuomanen controls the pace. Kuomanen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joukahainen wants to sweep but no luck. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joukahainen holds on and takes a little breather. Joukahainen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kuomanen wants to control from the top but Joukahainen keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Joukahainen wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Joukahainen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kuomanen.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Kuomanen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Joukahainen as he jumps to the side. Joukahainen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kuomanen was well out of range. Poor timing from Joukahainen. Kuomanen ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Kuomanen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kuomanen connects with a looping right hand.
Kuomanen cracks Joukahainen with an open hand slap. Joukahainen ducks right into an uppercut from Kuomanen. Kuomanen lands with a straight right. Joukahainen didn't see that one coming. Kuomanen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Kuomanen misses with a hook
and Joukahainen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kuomanen looks to throw the jab but Joukahainen is out of range. Joukahainen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kuomanen connects with a looping right hand.
Kuomanen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Joukahainen. Joukahainen fails to land with a series of punches.
Joukahainen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kuomanen misses with a wild body shot. Kuomanen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Joukahainen napping and manages to drive through into side control! Kuomanen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kuomanen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Joukahainen defending against the ground and pound. Kuomanen tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Kuomanen working the head and body with strikes. Joukahainen is looking for a sweep. Kuomanen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joukahainen keeps working. Joukahainen looking for a sweep but Kuomanen has passed into full mount! Oh no! Kuomanen working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Kuomanen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
It looks like Jouni Joukahainen has been cut. Kuomanen trying to control but he's not successful this time. Kuomanen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Joukahainen is rocked! Joukahainen reaches up to try and control the position but Kuomanen seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Joukahainen rolls and tries to escape and now Kuomanen has his back!

Kuomanen working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Joukahainen is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Kuomanen has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Joukahainen taps out!
