Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Frost (ranked 26 p4p, 127 weight class) and Luke Ridley (ranked 5 p4p, 19 weight class). Frost comes into the arena with Procreation (of the Wicked) blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ridley's choice of entrance music: No Shelter/ Rage Against The Machine. Eric Frost has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eric Frost! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Ridley! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ridley throws a leg kick but Frost sees it coming and checks it nicely. Ridley throws a front kick aimed at Frost's knee but Frost avoids it well. Frost definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Ridley throws a jab but it's blocked by Frost. Frost manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ridley on his heels. He'll look to pass Ridley's guard now, I'm sure. Ridley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Frost is one step ahead there. Frost controls from within his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frost looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ridley wants to sweep here but Frost controlling him for the moment. Frost controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Frost wants to pass the guard but Ridley is keeping the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. A low kick from Ridley is predictable there and Frost counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ridley! Ridley tries to get back to half guard but can't. Frost is looking to take a break and control but Ridley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ridley regains half guard. Frost controlling the pace. Ridley manages to get to full guard.
Ridley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Frost not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Frost wants to control from the top but Ridley keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Frost ducks right into an uppercut from Ridley. Ridley misses the jab. Frost slips under a jab. Ridley throws a low kick but it's checked well by Frost. Ridley looks to throw the jab but Frost is out of range. Ridley throws a lazy uppercut
and Frost counters with a single leg into guard. Ridley didn't expect that. Frost slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Frost seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ridley for as long as he can get away with. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ridley throws an overhand right that lands on Frost's shoulder, as Frost tries to avoid the shot. Frost appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Frost sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ridley's guard. Ridley trying to control but Frost postures up.
Ridley has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Ridley is not content to let Frost control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frost is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ridley is just riding it out for now. Frost eventually gives up the hold. Ridley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Frost wants to work for an arm triangle but Ridley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Frost is looking for a kimura but Ridley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Frost to get the leverage. Frost is looking for a kimura here.
Frost is looking to pass Ridley's guard but actually Ridley recovers to full guard. Frost is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ridley can do to turn this around? Frost controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frost wants to control from the top but Ridley keeps moving. Frost pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ridley is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ridley misses with a hook. Frost ducked under it nicely. Frost bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Frost changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Ridley throws the left hand but Frost avoids the punch easily. Ridley misses with a straight left. A big left from Ridley misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Frost darts in looking for a takedown but Ridley gets double underhooks and turns Frost into the cage. Ridley tries to circle away but Frost has him pinned against the cage. Ridley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Frost defending well as Ridley loads up on a big left hand. Frost dives in and grabs Ridley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ridley pushes down on Frost's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Frost. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ridley scores with a jab to the head.
Ridley fails to land with a series of punches.
A slow jab from Ridley misses its intended target. Frost drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ridley sprawls and moves away. Ridley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nice shot lands for Ridley. Frost takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Ridley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Frost ducks under a wild hook from Ridley. Ridley swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Frost attempts a counter takedown but Ridley avoids it well and moves away. and Frost counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Ridley is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Frost dives into side control.

Frost swings around for an armbar but Ridley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Frost's guard. Eric Frost overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Frost had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ridley defends it easily. Ridley stays in close to Frost's body and controls the position. Ridley stands and throws Frost's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frost is trying to get back to half guard. Frost can't do much from the bottom here. Ridley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Frost has escaped the position, nice work there. Ridley taking a breather here.

Ridley is staying active underneath Frost, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ridley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ridley won't allow Frost to pass to mount. Frost slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Luke Ridley seems to be getting the better of the standup. Ridley throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Frost sees it coming and avoids it easily. Frost changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Frost slips a straight right by Ridley. Ridley jabbing away but nothing is landing. Ridley throws a right hand that misses
and Frost counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ridley won't be happy with that. Ridley is not content to let Frost control the position. Frost misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
A lull in the action here as Frost stalls from top position. Frost tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ridley can't do much from the bottom here. Ridley trying to remain calm as Frost controls from the top position. Frost tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Frost content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Frost trying to control the action but Ridley is working from the bottom. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Frost fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ridley to the ground. Frost is now in Ridley's guard. Frost trying to control but Ridley is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frost is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ridley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Frost was well out of range. Poor timing from Ridley. Frost looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A swing and a miss from Ridley. Frost shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ridley's guard. Frost is stalling in the full guard. Ridley keeping moving, preventing Frost from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ridley is adopting a defensive guard. Ridley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Frost is one step ahead there. Frost is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Ridley feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Frosts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! A punch combination from Ridley misses. Ridley throws a series of punches but Frost avoids them all with ease.
And that's the end of the fight! Luke Ridley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Ridley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
