Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Motum Vakana!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Vakana looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Vakana looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Vakana has Petrosyan pressed against the cage, preventing Petrosyan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Vakana tries to work over Petrosyan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Petrosyan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Vakana's elbow.
Petrosyan takes a shot to the head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vakana misses with a punch to the body.

Petrosyan lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Vakana backwards.
Petrosyan lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Petrosyan can't find room to land a body shot as Vakana controls the action.

Petrosyan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Vakana defending well as Petrosyan loads up on a big left hand.
Petrosyan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Vakana closes the distance looking to clinch
and Petrosyan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Petrosyan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vakana stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Petrosyan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Petrosyan counters with a nice uppercut.
Vakana closes the distance but Petrosyan moves to the side
enabling Petrosyan to counter with a crisp jab.
We've been told by Petrosyan's head coaches at Heavy Metal that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Petrosyan circles away from the clinch attempt
and Petrosyan counters with a right hand to the body.
Petrosyan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Vakana doesn't manage to clinch there - Petrosyan circles away.
Petrosyan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Vakana lands with a straight right. Petrosyan didn't see that one coming.

Petrosyan lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vakana.

Vakana tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Petrosyan swats away the attempt to clinch by Vakana.

and Petrosyan counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Vakana moves in looking to clinch but Petrosyan pushes him off.
Petrosyan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Petrosyan tries to keep at a distance but Vakana has taken the fight into the clinch.

Petrosyan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vakana misses with an uppercut. Petrosyan saw that one coming.
Petrosyan throws a big counter combination but Vakana scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Vakana misses with a lunging right hand
and Petrosyan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Petrosyan looks for the body kick but Vakana saw that one coming.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Petrosyan counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Vakana out cold! What a finish! Petrosyan is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
