PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zark Muckerberg (ranked 85 p4p, 782 weight class) and Maman Suraman (ranked 10 p4p, 99 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Zark Muckerberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maman Suraman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muckerberg swings away with a body shot that misses
and Suraman counters with a three punch combo that has Muckerberg backing up. Muckerberg nods at Suraman to acknowledge the strikes.

Suraman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Muckerberg manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Muckerberg is looking for a triangle but Suraman pushes his legs off easily.
Suraman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Suraman trying to control the position from guard on top but Muckerberg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suraman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Suraman is looking to work some ground and pound but Muckerberg has wrist control.

Suraman tries to free his leg and advance position but Muckerberg is retaining full guard.

Suraman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Muckerberg is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Muckerberg has escaped and now he's on top!

Suraman wants to get back to his feet but Muckerberg is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Suraman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Suraman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Muckerberg tries to free his leg and advance position but Suraman is retaining full guard.
Muckerberg is working hard here to advance position.
Muckerberg passes into half guard.
Suraman is trying to maintain the position but Muckerberg is very close to passing his half guard.
Suraman wants to get back to full guard.

Muckerberg wants to take a breather but Suraman is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Muckerberg can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Suraman is looking to escape.

Suraman really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Suraman wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Muckerberg tries to keep control of the position but Suraman is staying busy.

Muckerberg has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Muckerberg definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Suraman trying to get back to his feet but Muckerberg is in full control for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Muckerberg is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Suraman is defending well though. Muckerberg let's go of the attempt for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zark Muckerberg will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Muckerberg shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Suraman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Suraman wants to get back to his feet but Muckerberg passes into half guard.

Muckerberg wants to pass to mount but Suraman is defending the position.
Suraman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Muckerberg is working away from the top position though.

Muckerberg moves into full mount! Suraman won't be happy about that!

Suraman is squirming around, avoiding Muckerberg's attempts to control the action.
Suraman has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Muckerberg's lack of action.
Muckerberg prevents Suraman from standing back up.
Muckerberg works his foot free and advances to mount.
Suraman is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Muckerberg has taken his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Muckerberg doesn't have the hooks in and Suraman manages to turn into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Suraman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Muckerberg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Suraman has managed to get both his arms back between Muckerberg's legs - danger averted.
Suraman lands a couple of elbows.

Suraman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Muckerberg is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Suraman, into his guard.

Muckerberg is looking to take a break and control but Suraman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Suraman gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Muckerberg trying to mount his opponent but Suraman defends it.
Suraman gets back to full guard.
Suraman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Muckerberg puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Muckerberg stops Suraman from getting back to his feet.
Zark Muckerberg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Muckerberg prevents Suraman from improving his position.
Muckerberg wants to control but Suraman is keeping him busy.
Suraman wants to get back to full guard.
Muckerberg wants to control but Suraman is keeping him busy.
Muckerberg looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Zark Muckerberg dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Muckerberg leaves Suraman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Muckerberg looks to land a right hand but Suraman moved out of range.

Suraman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Muckerberg to the ground. Suraman is now in Muckerberg's guard.

Suraman stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Muckerberg has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Suraman manages to get his head free but now Muckerberg has transitioned to an armbar! Suraman grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Muckerberg! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Zark Muckerberg!
Zark Muckerberg seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
