Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pope Callixtus (ranked 460 p4p, 421 weight class) and Jorge Baroza (ranked 46 p4p, 42 weight class). Jorge Baroza will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pope Callixtus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Baroza!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Callixtus moves in looking to clinch but Baroza pushes him off.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Baroza misses with an uppercut. Callixtus saw that one coming.
Callixtus tries to clinch but Baroza moves out of range.
Callixtus definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Baroza misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Callixtus moves into range and clinches up with Baroza.
Callixtus wants to take the fight to the mat but Baroza manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Baroza struggles to land a body shot inside as Callixtus controls his hands.
Callixtus is working for takedown but Baroza is calmly controlling the position for now.
The referee is keeping an eye on Baroza - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Callixtus has picked Baroza up - he's going for a ride! Callixtus dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Callixtus is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Baroza has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Callixtus is working for a submission of some sort.
Callixtus tries to pass to full mount but Baroza defends it.

Callixtus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Baroza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Callixtus has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Callixtus is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Baroza has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Baroza!

Callixtus has a closed guard, preventing Baroza from standing up.

Callixtus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baroza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Baroza not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baroza is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Baroza wants to stand but Callixtus has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Callixtus controls Baroza momentarily but Baroza frees himself.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Baroza throws out a loose jab but Callixtus uses good head movement to avoid it.

Callixtus closes the distance and pushes Baroza back into the cage.
Callixtus is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Baroza gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Baroza is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Callixtus has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Baroza clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
I really don't envy Baroza right now.

Baroza is having to fend off submission attempts from Callixtus, who is looking to sink in the choke. Callixtus doesn't have the hooks in though and Baroza manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Baroza looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Callixtus lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Callixtus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Callixtus is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Baroza is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Baroza digs a right hand into Callixtus's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Callixtus's gas tank.

Callixtus gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Baroza regains guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorge Baroza comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Callixtus has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
