Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Thorn (ranked 1905 p4p, 2485 weight class) and Stephen McGarvey (ranked 227 p4p, 289 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance Thorn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stephen McGarvey!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorn takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

It looks like Lance Thorn has been cut.
McGarvey ducks under a wild hook from Thorn.
Thorn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McGarvey looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Thorn misses with a right hand
letting McGarvey counter with a right hand.
Thorn misses with a jab, cross combination.

Thorn has McGarvey up against the cage in a clinch.

Thorn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thorn throws a jab but it's blocked by McGarvey.
McGarvey let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Sloppy strikes from Thorn. Those never looked like landing.
McGarvey is looking for the big counter here.
Thorn misses with a double jab.
It seemed like McGarvey was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Thorn throws a nice looking combination but McGarvey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Thorn is looking to clinch but McGarvey is avoiding it.
Thorn backing away here, and McGarvey unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Thorn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGarvey finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGarvey circles away from the clinch attempt.

Thorn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McGarvey steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Thorn.

and McGarvey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

A little jabbing left from McGarvey on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Thorn throws a lazy right hand but McGarvey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lance Thorn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thorn tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGarvey swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Thorn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
McGarvey raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Thorn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGarvey counters with a lovely shot to the body.
McGarvey thuds his shin into the meat of Thorn's side.
Thorn tries to clinch there but McGarvey circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thorn lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Thorn throws a right and a left that McGarvey avoids nicely.
Thorn throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Thorn takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and McGarvey counters with a nice body shot.
Thorn is breathing heavily.
Thorn misses the jab.
McGarvey now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Thorn throws a combination that misses
and McGarvey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Thorn closes the distance looking to clinch
and McGarvey counters with a stiff right hand.
A jab from Thorn misses.
A nice side step and McGarvey releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Thorn just misses with a punch to the body.
McGarvey thinks about the counter body kick.
McGarvey connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Thorn momentarily.

Thorn is rocked!

Lance Thorn's cut is getting worse.
Thorn wants to clinch up but McGarvey keeps it at a distance.
Thorn misses with a hook. McGarvey ducked under it nicely.
McGarvey looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Thorn tries to clinch up but McGarvey circles away and keeps his distance.
McGarvey raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Thorn misses with a combination
and McGarvey counters with a thumping low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thorn wants to clinch.
McGarvey only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Thorn tries to clinch there but McGarvey circles away.
Thorn misses with a series of wild punches.
A slapping leg kick lands for McGarvey.
Thorn lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Thorn throws a good cross that connects.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thorn tries to clinch but fails miserably
and McGarvey counters with a stiff right hand.
Thorn lands a glancing blow to the side of McGarvey's head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lance Thorn will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Lance Thorn's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Thorn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A nice side step and McGarvey releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Lance Thorn is winning the standup battle so far.
A left lands for Thorn.
Thorn falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling McGarvey to counter with a crisp jab.
Oh Thorn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Thorn moves in looking to clinch but McGarvey pushes him off.
Thorn seems to have got his legs back now.
Thorn misses with a two punch combination.
Thorn misses with a double jab
and McGarvey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lance Thorn's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thorn waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McGarvey.
McGarvey throws out a counter right but Thorn avoids it with no problem.
The fight stays on the outside here - Thorn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McGarvey! But no joy.
McGarvey has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
McGarvey circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Thorn to the canvas! Thorn doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - McGarvey keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stephen McGarvey!
