Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikora Tama (ranked 1540 p4p, 1872 weight class) and Rodrigo Duterte (ranked 195 p4p, 234 weight class). Tama comes to the cage accompanied by Haka War Dance. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rodrigo Duterte was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nikora Tama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodrigo Duterte!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tama shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Duterte pinned against the cage. Duterte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tama misses with a body shot.
Duterte tries a quick counter leg kick but Tama is wise to it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tama. Duterte does a little dance to reset his feet.
A slow jab from Duterte misses its intended target.
We've been hearing reports that Tama has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Tama looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tama will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikora Tama. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tama shoots in looking for a takedown but Duterte manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tama's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Duterte takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Duterte swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Tama counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Duterte leaves Tama with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Duterte displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tama.
As Tama backs off Duterte throws a huge counter combo but Tama manages to avoid it all.
Duterte connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Tama covering up! Duterte comes in with a big uppercut and Tama goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Rodrigo Duterte!
In his post fight interview, Rodrigo Duterte started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
