PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Clarke (ranked 1635 p4p, 1261 weight class) and Surkho Dratchev (ranked 204 p4p, 167 weight class). Clarke comes to the cage accompanied by One Cent, Five Cent, Ten Cent, Dollar - Soca Boys. Dratchev has chosen Schweine by Glukoza Nostra as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Clarke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Surkho Dratchev!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clarke throws a push kick but Dratchev slaps the foot to one side.
Surkho Dratchev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clarke is defended easily by Dratchev.
Clarke shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dratchev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Dratchev has managed to clinch.

Clarke turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Dratchev is trying to get back to half guard.
Clarke is putting a hurting on Dratchev here, landing some big shots from side control.
Dratchev gets back to half guard.
Dratchev wants to control but Clarke is keeping busy.

Dratchev is trying to control but can't.
Dratchev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dratchev is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Clarke scores with a couple of nice shots.

Dratchev has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Clarke is on him like a limpet, forcing Dratchev back against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Clarke has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Dratchev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dratchev misses with a kick to the body.
Dratchev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Dratchev misses with a few strikes there.
Dratchev throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dratchev blocks a head kick by Clarke.
Clarke has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Mark Clarke has been cut.
Dratchev throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dratchev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Clarke shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Dratchev eats them both and turns towards Clarke to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Surkho Dratchev has been cut.
Dratchev lands a front kick.
Clarke looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Dratchev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Clarke throws out the jab.

Dratchev cracks Clarke with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Dratchev gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Clarke has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dratchev avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dratchev has one foot on Clarke's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Clarke is breathing heavily.
Clarke tries to land a front kick but Dratchev steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Dratchev lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Dratchev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Clarke drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dratchev sprawls and moves away.
A slapping leg kick lands for Dratchev.

Dratchev has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dratchev lands a hook to the side of the head.

Clarke goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dratchev prevents it.
Clarke has Dratchev pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dratchev manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Dratchev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice jab there from Dratchev.
Dratchev clobbers Clarke with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Dratchev misses with a wild combination.
Dratchev scoring well with a low kick there.

Dratchev clinches up with Clarke and pushes him back against the cage.

Dratchev breaks from the clinch.
Dratchev throws a lazy right hand but Clarke sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dratchev lands with a shot to the body.
Dratchev tries to clinch up but Clarke circles away and keeps his distance.
Clarke throws a head kick but Dratchev moves out of range.
Dratchev throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Surkho Dratchev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dratchev stalks Clarke and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Clarke's face. Clarke staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dratchev closes the distance and clinches.
Dratchev throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Clarkes head.

Dratchev scores with a nice hook to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Surkho Dratchev dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dratchev moves into the clinch successfully.

Dratchev bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Clarke! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Clarke is trying to keep Dratchev in close.
Dratchev working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dratchev trying to control but Clarke is working from the bottom.
Dratchev wants to get up but he can't break Clarke's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Dratchev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Clarke manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dratchev has Clarke in his guard.


Dratchev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clarke defends it easily.

Dratchev wants to stand and escape but Clarke is having none of it.
Clarke postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Dratchev is trying to hold Clarke in close to prevent damage but Clarke has managed to pass into half guard.

Dratchev is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Clarke stops Dratchev from getting back to his feet.
Clarke slips a nice elbow through Dratchev's hands, connecting with Dratchev's forehead.
Dratchev looks like he's trying to stand up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Clarke is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dratchev is defending well against a takedown attempt.
A shot in the inside from Dratchev.
Dratchev lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Clarke backwards.
Dratchev has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Clarke is working for takedown but Dratchev is calmly controlling the position for now.

Clarke is trying to drag Dratchev to the mat but Dratchev just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Clarke with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dratchev to score with a decent uppercut.
Clarke swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Dratchev catches Clarke napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Clarke to the canvas!

Clarke is rocked!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dratchev gets to his feet - Clarke follows without any prompting.
Oh Clarke is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Clarke is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dratchev sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Clarke seems to have got his legs back now.
Dratchev is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Clarke flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Clarke is out cold! Dratchev holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Surkho Dratchev!
A relieved looking Surkho Dratchev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Mark Clarke stepped up to the mic, saying 'You beat me again... Well played. I wish you the best of luck in the future... However this is my final fight, thank you to everyone who supported me.. I want to pass the torch to Handerson. Good work brother.'.
