PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steel Adams (ranked 501 p4p, 1261 weight class) and James Howlett (ranked 55 p4p, 127 weight class). Howlett is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Indestructible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steel Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Howlett!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Howlett closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Adams wants to get back to his feet but Howlett is dominant here and he's now got Adams's back!
Adams is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Adams staying busy and making it hard for Howlett to control.
Adams is trying to stand back up.

Adams is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Howlett gets his way!

Adams's coaches at House of 1000 Corpses have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Howlett looking to break Adams's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Adams remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Howlett will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

You can see the frustration on Adams's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Adams defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.

Howlett throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Adams escapes and throws Howlett's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Adams decides to stand back up. Adams steps back and let's Howlett get back to his feet.
Adams misses with a wild body shot.
Adams throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Howlett tries for a takedown but Adams sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Howlett moves forwards but Adams connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Adams just misses with a punch to the body.

Howlett dives in for a single leg takedown but Adams sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Adams gets caught napping as Howlett dives in and scores a takedown. Adams manages to retain guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Adams wants to stand up but Howlett is controlling him.

Howlett is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Adams is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Adams has escaped and now he's on top!

Adams wants to stand but Howlett is controlling his posture from full guard.
Adams works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steel Adams will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Adams lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Howlett ducks straight into an uppercut from Adams and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Howlett manages to regain guard straight away.

Howlett is rocked!

It looks like James Howlett has been cut.
Adams cracks Howlett with a solid left hand.
Howlett is still in real trouble! Can Adams finish him?
Adams wanted to stand there but Howlett had control of the position.

Howlett is working an open guard so Adams takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Howlett misses with a takedown

and Howlett is countered with a crisp right hand from Adams that sends him to the canvas! Adams follows him to the mat into side control.

Adams decides to stand up, so the ref orders Howlett to his feet.
Adams lands a big right hook! Howlett looks hurt but is still standing! Adams lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Howlett falls down and Adams dives in with a huge hammer fist! Howlett's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Adams runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Steel Adams!
Steel Adams seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
