Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tomura Shigaraki (ranked 914 p4p, 718 weight class) and Brayden Abner (ranked 118 p4p, 92 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Tomura Shigaraki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brayden Abner!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abner uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shigaraki.
Shigaraki feints and then cracks Abner's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Abner down.
Nice shot by Shigaraki.
Abner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shigaraki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Abner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shigaraki.
Shigaraki jabs Abner right on the nose. Abner blinks but takes it well.
Abner throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shigaraki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Abner's head backwards.
Shigaraki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Shigaraki lunges at Abner with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Abner's hand.
Abner misses with a head kick.
Abner takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Shigaraki throws out a loose jab but Abner uses good head movement to avoid it.
Abner drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Abner swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

and Abner cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Tomura Shigaraki has been cut.

Shigaraki gets tackled into the cage by Abner. Abner maintains the clinch.
Abner lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Shigaraki tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Abner smiles and moves away.
Shigaraki throws a chopping leg kick but Abner manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Shigaraki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Abner to the mat! Abner manages to get full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shigaraki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Abner wants to sweep but no luck.

Shigaraki trying to control but Abner is working from the bottom.
Shigaraki in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Shigaraki has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Shigaraki throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Abner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Shigaraki throws an elbow that misses. Abner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shigaraki's guard. Nice move by Abner!


Shigaraki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Abner wants to pass the guard but Shigaraki is keeping the position.

Abner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Shigaraki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Abner defends it easily.
Abner wanted to stand there but Shigaraki had control of the position.

Shigaraki working for a triangle but Abner defends it easily.

Shigaraki has his foot on Abner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abner works his way back into a safe position though.
Abner slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shigaraki throws his legs up looking for a submission but Abner uses it to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Abner is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shigaraki's shoulder. That is not cool.
Shigaraki is trying to work for a sweep but Abner has mounted him!
Shigaraki is working to get back to half guard.
Abner controlling the pace for now.
Shigaraki tries to lock up and control but Abner gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Abner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Shigaraki is looking to improve his position but Abner isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shigaraki tries to hold on but Abner postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Abner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shigaraki throws out the jab.
Abner fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shigaraki on the side of the head.
Shigaraki shoots in for a double leg but Abner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Tomura Shigaraki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shigaraki looks to land a right hand but Abner moved out of range.
Abner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abner wants it to stay on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shigaraki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Shigaraki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Shigaraki looking to sit in guard and control but Abner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Shigaraki is looking for a triangle here but Abner uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Shigaraki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Abner defends it nicely.

and Abner counters with a nice low kick that buckles Shigaraki's knee momentarily.

Abner has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shigaraki misses with a takedown attempt - Abner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Abner throws out a counter right but Shigaraki avoids it with no problem.

Shigaraki fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Abner checks it well.
Shigaraki sets himself, and Abner steps forward looking for the clinch! Shigaraki avoids it this time.
Shigaraki moves out of range of the strikes.
Shigaraki throws a big shot that misses.
Shigaraki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brayden Abner seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Shigaraki lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Abner has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Abner and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Shigaraki shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Abner sprawls well. Abner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shigaraki gets slowly back to his feet.
Shigaraki misses with a low kick as Abner jumps back.
Abner throws the left hand but Shigaraki avoids the punch easily.
Shigaraki uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shigaraki swings for the body but Abner moves out of range.
Shigaraki wants to slow Abner down by chopping away at his legs.

Brayden Abner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Abner has Shigaraki up against the cage in a clinch.
Tomura Shigaraki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Shigaraki connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Shigaraki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Abner sprawls well initially but Shigaraki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Abner uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shigaraki.

Abner leaves Shigaraki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Shigaraki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Shigaraki stuns Abner with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Abner has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Abner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Brayden Abner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
