Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Belyaev (ranked 623 p4p, 249 weight class) and James River (ranked 61 p4p, 24 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daniel Belyaev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, James River ! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belyaev shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with River but River pushes him off and we're back to square one. River defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Belyaev. Belyaev doesn't succeed with the takedown enabling River to counter with a crisp jab. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Belyaev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belyaev shoots in but River avoids the takedown attempt easily. Belyaev bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Belyaev looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. River regains full guard. Nicely done. River escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Belyaev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. River looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Belyaev has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. River is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Belyaev wants to pass the guard but River is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belyaev trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. River preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Belyaev looking to pass the guard. River controlling Belyaev's posture. Belyaev lying in River 's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. River decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Belyaev taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
