PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Soap (ranked 165 p4p, 817 weight class) and Willy McCoy (ranked 24 p4p, 113 weight class). Soap comes to the cage accompanied by Clean Up - Barney The Purple Dinosaur. McCoy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. You Don't Mess Around With Jim kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Willy McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy lands with an overhand left.
Soap misses with a straight left.
McCoy let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Soap is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Soap lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
McCoy loads up on a big right hand but Soap slips the punch.
McCoy shoots in looking for a takedown but Soap manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McCoy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
McCoy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Soap lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
McCoy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Soap manages to avoid it.

McCoy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Soap fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and McCoy counters with a shoot takedown. Soap fights it but they end up in guard.

Soap is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. McCoy presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCoy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Soap's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soap wants to stand up but McCoy is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soap is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
McCoy wants to control from the top but Soap keeps moving.
Soap wants to stand up but McCoy is controlling him.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Soap counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts McCoy! He's just covering up as Soap starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
