Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doric Dienekes (ranked 233 p4p, 129 weight class) and Ivan Jankovic (ranked 30 p4p, 18 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Doric Dienekes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ivan Jankovic!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Jankovic throws the left hand but Dienekes avoids the punch easily.
Dienekes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dienekes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Dienekes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jankovic knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jankovic wants to improve his position but Dienekes is controlling well.

Jankovic felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Dienekes wants to control but Jankovic is keeping him busy.
Dienekes uses his free foot to push down on Jankovic's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jankovic.
Jankovic is squirming around, avoiding Dienekes's attempts to control the action.

Dienekes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

And Jankovic responds with a good body kick, but Dienekes manages to step out the way in time.
